England Women's Cricket coach Mark Lane was named the UK Coach of the Year at the 2009 UK Coaching Awards.
Lane also won the High-Performance Coach of the Year gong at the glittering ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London.
In a good night for cricket the Coaching Intervention of the Year Award was revealed as Cricket's education offer, encompassing the Chance to shine campaign.
Coaches of Phillips Idowu were honoured in the The Coaching Chain: The Appreciation of Coaching Award - that recognises contributions made by a group of coaches over a period of time in helping an athlete achieve their potential.The World Champion triple jumper was at the event to pay tribute to Humphrey Long, his PE teacher who introduced him to the triple jump; John Powell who coached Idowu as a teenager at Belgrave Harriers; and John Herbert and Aston Moore, both of whom have guided the Hackney-born star to podium places.
