About the Report

The research employed a three-staged methodology utilising interviews and surveys with coaches and the programme managers and achieved a 71% response rate for the main stage. The main aims of the research were to (1) profile the coaches on the WHPC programme (2) profile the services that each of the coaches had received and (3) to evaluate the impact of the WHPC programme in terms of its contribution to the development (or otherwise) of the coaches.

Key findings included:

  • 95% of respondents were satisfied with the programme and only 5% believed it required significant improvement.
  • Whilst coaches were not necessarily working at a higher level after undertaking the WHPC programme, they believed they had benefited significantly from the skills and experience they had acquired as a result of their participation.
