Help children realise their potential
The workshop introduces the 5Cs of coaching children
Competence – Positive views of one's actions appropriate to capability
Confidence – Positive self worth and overall sense of being good at things
Connection – Positive bonds with people and institutions
Character and Caring - Respect for societal and cultural rules, possession of standards for correct behaviours, a sense of right and wrong, and a sense of sympathy and empathy for others
Creativity - Finding one's own solutions.
Do you coach children up to 12 years of age? Then this is an exciting chance for you to consider the emphasis of your coaching and enhance the experience of your young participants in the process.
By learning how to incorporate the concept of the 5Cs into your coaching sessions you will improve the development of all your participants by offering them an exciting, challenging and well-structured environment in which they can discover all that is good about sport.
Crucially you'll learn how to incorporate positive youth development into your sessions as a coaching outcome.
It's also an excellent opportunity for you to reflect, learn and share your own ideas with others, and pick up new some ones as well!
Nurture your future sports stars with optimised coaching sessions
When you’re training growing youngsters, regardless of age and ability, you need to know exactly where their bodies are at in terms of development – especially during puberty.
Coaching the Young Developing Performer is an excellent professional development workshop for experienced coaches*. In this 3-hour workshop, coaches will acquire the skills to assess the needs of budding performers of both genders and monitor their individual biological markers. This helps develop realistic coaching programmes that produce results.
For details of when the next workshop will be run, please visit the workshop finder.
*Coaches attending this workshop should have prior knowledge of child development and maturation for young people and the physical, psychological and social development of children.
