International Coaching Conference Hailed a Success
Delegates and speakers gave a glowing appraisal of the International Coaching Conference that took place at Twickenham from 18-20 November.
The conference - hosted by sports coach UK and supported by the Rugby Football Union, the International Council for Coach Education, the European Network of Sports Science, Education and Employment, British Swimming, and the UK Centre for Coaching Excellence - examined coach development and coaching systems, with an emphasis on learning from international best practice and exploring what a world-leading coaching system looks like.
The three-day event was a mixture of keynote speeches and workshops. Headline speakers included the likes of Sue Campbell CBE and Peter Keen of UK Sport, Sir Clive Woodward OBE of the British Olympic Association, Sir Trevor Brooking CBE of the Football Association, and Francis Baron OBE and Rob Andrew of the Rugby Football Union.
Workshops were designed for coaches, and for coaching system builders respectively. Themes included Expert Coaches in Action and Components of ‘expert’ Coaching Systems.
Feedback included:
I think it has been a great success. Miguel Crespo, PhD. International Tennis Federation
I definitely got some really good stuff to take away and think about. Helen Cartwright, Royal Yachting Association
