High Performance Coaching Development

High-Performance Coach CPD Programmes
The High-Performance Coaching Development Team has been working with Canoeing, Hockey and Sailing to create continuous professional development (CPD) programmes.

Following on from 'health checks' a needs-analysis is being undertaken with each high-performance coach within the three sports to create individual CPD plans, the summation of which will form a whole-sport plan for each sport.

Components of the CPD plans include:

  • Residentials
  • Mentoring
  • Individual CPD Programmes
  • Breakfast Clubs
  • Links to other sports

Developing High-Performance Coaching Teams
The introductory session of the Developing Your High-Performance Coaching Team programme was launched at the Barceló Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire on the 9 December 2008.
The initiative – a pilot project of the recently launched sports coach UK High Performance Coaching Team - is designed to provide an opportunity for high-performance coaching team developers to come together, and work together, under a shared vision of understanding the concepts and ideas behind what makes a successful team, regardless of the sport or profession. It hence allows those responsible for the continued professional development of high-performance coaches to access new ideas and concepts that have the potential to make a significant difference in shaping the way they work.

The first session of the North West High-Performance Coaching Breakfast Club was a great success with 34 high-Performance coaches from 12 different sports in attendance.
The event took place on 15 December at City Social Café, in Sportcity, Manchester.
The main objective of the Breakfast Club is the creation of a Community of Practice for High-Performance coaches in the North-West, a forum where very talented coaches working with very talented athletes can interact freely and share ideas, concerns and best practice for the benefit of all involved.
