South West Coaching Summit - Wednesday 25th October 2006
This event will look at the development of a South West Action Plan for Coaching. All coaches and coaching organisations in the South West are invited to attend.
Your input is invaluable in determining the future coaching landscape for the Southwest region. For more info please click here or email southwest@sportscoachuk.org .
Evolving from the development of the UK Action Plan for Coaching, key partners in the South West have identified a need to develop an Action Plan for coaching across the region. The Action Plan has the following objectives:
- Identify the key coaching priorities for the South West region
- Identify and agree the roles of key partners within the South West region to deliver the plan.
- Focus on the participant/coach relationship
- Deliver and action plan coaching in the South West that links and supports the UK Action Plan for Coaching.
- Encompass existing County Sports Partnerships Business Plans and National Governing Body Whole Sport Plans and Regional Plans, building on existing delivery and good practice.
The need for a South West Action Plan for Coaching has arisen following the South West Regional Sports Board committing £5.4 million to Coaching up to March 2009, via the Community Investment Fund. This investment is over 50% of their allocation.
To plan looks to ensure the investment adds value to the current coaching infrastructure in the South West; a working group has been assembled to develop a Regional Action Plan for Coaching.
As part of the continuing extensive consultation process the working group has developed a second draft, which sets out a vision for the South West Action Plan for Coaching as:
- More fit for purpose coaches, delivering more quality coaching more often in the South West
- A cohesive, ethical and valued coaching system where: Children, players and athletes, are supported by appropriately skilled coaches at all stages of their development in sport, and which the South West will support to be number one in the world by 2016, bench-marked against international best practice
