This section of the website gives you information on the regional work carried out by sports coach UK's 45 Coach Development Officers (CDOs) and 8 Area Managers.
The employment of 45 CDOs was a key recommendation in the Coaching Task Force of 2002. CDOs work closely with County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) to develop and support continous professional development (CPD) opportunities for coaches. The CDOs have also been heavily involved in the recruitment of Community Sports Coaches (CSCs). The employment of 3000 CSCs was a further key recommendation in the Coaching Task Force report and this target was reached in late 2005 and the number continues to grow!
Each regional site is made up of three pages.
You can read the latest news and details of upcoming events in your area on the regional information page. There's also a section where we put a local coach in the spotlight and ask them about themselves!
In the staff details section you can find out a bit more about the CDOs working in your area and how to contact them.
And in the case studies page you can read about projects in your region that CSCs are involved in and the difference they're making.
One of the main roles of the CDOs in each County Sport Partnership area is to improve access for local coaches to high quality coach education and development. sports coach UK has identified the Developing Coaches process to support this. This process can be followed whether working with someone coming into coaching for the first time or a very experienced coach playing at international level.
