The UK Vision for Coaching has established the overall direction for the future development of coaching in the United Kingdom for the next ten years. It has been endorsed by sports coach UK, UK Sport, sportscotland, the Sports Council for Wales, Coaching Northern Ireland, Sport England, the British Olympic Association and SPRITO, the national training organisation for sport and recreation.

| By 2012 the practice of coaching in the UK will be elevated to a profession acknowledged as central to the development of sport and the fulfilment of individual potential. |
| Coaching will have: |
- professional and ethical values and inclusive and equitable practice
- agreed national standards of competence as a benchmark at all levels
- a regulated and licensed structure
- recognition, value and appropriate funding and reward
- a culture and structure of innovation, constant renewal and continuous development standards

The Vision is now the key strategic document influencing the way in which sports coach UK will develop its future work.
