Plymouth Raiders Community Foundation: Basketball Coaches

Springboard Plus
An exciting new initiative called Springboard Plus, funded through the John Rutley Sport Fund, has been set up in partnership with the University of Bristol. The initiative is part of the Bristol - Kenya 2012 link.
Springboard Plus will provide funding for two young endurance athletes (16 - 20 years of age with a permanent BS postcode address) to experience a weeks training programme at the Kip Keino High Performance Training Centre in Eldoret, Kenya.

Gloucestershire FA: Football Coaching Disabled Footballers Course
This course - that takes place at Gloucestershire FA Headquarters in Almondsbury, Bristol on Sunday 30 November 2008 - concentrates on adapting your coaching to include disabled players, whether in your club or in your school.

Sports Apprenticeships Numbers Revealed
The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) funded initiative Young Apprenticeships in Sport Management, Leadership and Coaching will see 125 apprenticeships made available this year in the South West. South West Community Sports Coach Scheme (CSCS)
Working with the regions seven county sports partnerships this coach development project will address a number of locally identified issues that will address:
• The lack of sports-specific technical support currently offered to coaches through their current continuous professional development (outside of attending qualifications)
• The national statistic that only 36 per cent of Community Sports Coaches (CSCs) hold a level-two qualification in their delivery sport
• A lack of shared information on quality coach educators and coach-development opportunities across county borders.

The UK Coaching Framework - Implementation Within England
The UK Coaching Framework has set out the vision for the development of the coaching system in the UK up to 2016. The Framework will act as the reference point for the development of coaching within England, where its implementation will be led by sports coach UK within the context of the Delivery System for sport.

South West Regional Surf Development Coach Appointed
Andy Sturt has been appointed as the British Surfing association (BSA) Regional Surf Development Coach for the South West. To read the press release from the BSA please click here.

SW Regional Netball CPD Programme
The Devon Coach Development Officer has been working with the All England Netball Association to assist the implementation of a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programme for coaches in the South West.
